Arusha National Park is the closest to Arusha Town and can be visited in one day from there. It has 137 square kilometers and lies between Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro. This park, which lies between 1500 meters and 4566 meters, holds Mount Meru, Ngurdoto Crater and Lake Momella. The lanscape is made of forest and swamps, and the famous summits can be seen from almost everywhere.

The other particularity of Arusha Park, is the fact that one can do walking safari, with an armed ranger, as there are no predators, and it is fun for kids as well.

Animals:

Arusha Park has many grazers, monkeys and predators. White Colobus monkeys, elephants, giraffes, buffalos, gazelles, hippos, leopards, hyenas, wild pigs are all to be seen in this park.

Birds:

there are about 400 different species of birds and it is easy to observe them around Momella Lake.

When and how to visit?

Arusha National Park can be visited the whole year round, but the air is the clearest from December to February. It is visited from Arusha, and combines well before your safari, or at the end of it, before flying out.
